Their administrations were marked by efforts to modernize the country, land reform, nationalization of key industries, and significant social investment, although they also faced criticism and challenges, including economic difficulties and social unrest.<br /><br />In recent decades, Democratic Action has faced significant challenges, particularly with the rise of Hugo Chávez and the Bolivarian Revolution, which shifted the Venezuelan political landscape dramatically to the left.
